Vitor Zerbinato is a designer who knows how to reinvent himself

Vitor Zerbinato is a designer who knows how to reinvent himself. Today he commands the brand that takes his name, but it all started with Madame X in 1987, and to honor his past, we have to talk a little bit about how that brand came to be. Vitor and his sister started Madame X in the backyard, where many businesses were born, but few succeeded. Part of the secret for how far the brand has come is that each of its creators contributed with what they knew best, which meant leaving the creative part for Vitor. He likes to say it’s almost like a curse; he can’t stop creating. The name Madame X came from a slang term that Vitor and his friends used to define the women who, in the club scene of São Paulo in the 80s, went to the parties serving the best look.

How it all started

Born in a small town in Brazil, Vitor Zerbinato started showing interest in fashion when he was seven years old. With leftover fabric, he used to create dresses for his sister’s dolls. Later, he began designing party dresses for his friends. When he was only 16, he moved to São Paulo with his sister, and they started Madame X. In 2010, after carefully studying the market, they both decided to rename the brand, consolidating its success and marking its maturity.

Strike a pose

The latest collection is a tribute to the silver screen icons of the ‘50s and ‘60s. Strike a Pose blends vintage charm with a modern edge. Inspired by legends like Marilyn Monroe, Greta Garbo, and James Dean, the designer reimagines couture by combining denim with classic textiles, such as taffeta, velvet, chiffon, and experimental materials such as laminated paper and liquid organza. Balancing masculine and feminine energy, the collection features tailored suits, tailcoats, and ties that radiate chic androgyny. Dresses range from sharp and architectural to soft and dreamy, while pure silk robes add a final touch of understated sophistication.

The brand style: celebrating women’s strength and sophistication

Vitor Zerbinato is a celebration of strong, elegant, and sophisticated femininity. Its focus is on empowering women to be authentic and confident, creating a positive impact in their customers’ lives that goes way beyond their clothes. Combining creativity, structural knowledge, innovation, and craftsmanship, the brand has evolved over the decades, staying current and solidifying its place in the international fashion market.
